Old Photos

I recently came into possession of a fairly large quantity of B&W family photos. Most of them are 50-65 years old. A great many of them were just loose in a box, the storage form they've been in for decades, I'm certain. These loose photos have "curled," many of them very badly -- almost into a complete tube-like circle .

I'm afraid to even try to flatten them out, for fear they will crack, or otherwise suffer from such an attempt.

Can anyone advise me on the best method of flattening these snapshots so that they can be stored in albums that will keep them in good condition -- and flat?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
