Another favorite, but not because I think it's a good photograph but because it kinda embodies the whole safari experience for me.

your right. it isn't a great pic. But I get your point. im looking straight middle in that pic and I think it is a rhino? im wondering what a rhino taste like. fry it up out there over a campfire, under the stars. something like that.....
I would love to go on a safari.

Where were you on safari? I was in Tanzania in February and it just blew my mind - hundreds of thousands of wildebeest on the Serengeti and the lions that hunt them. I will never really look at a zoo quite the same way again. Seeing the animals in the wild has spoiled me for any zoo.

bribrius, it is very small here and looks much better full screen but is still pretty much a snapshot, shot from a moving vehicle etc.

WG, I was in Kenya in Sept. We saw all of the Big Five except leopard, and uncountable plains game I don't think I will look at anything the same again.

Were you lucky enough to see the "Great Migration"? We went in September of 2012 (Masai Mara, Nakuru and Samburu) and I think we were a bit ahead of the migration. We saw all of the Big 5, plus we were lucky enough to see 5 of the 6 cats that are present in Africa. Even our guide was amazed by the fact that we saw all the different cats. It was mating season for the ostriches and that led to some very interesting images of the competition between the males.

If you get a chance to go back, I would recommend the Okavango Delta in Botswana - quite a different set of environments.

Looks awesome!

WG, we were there the last week in Sept. The rains were early and the migration was late ( according to our guide) so we just caught the beginning. Lots of wildebeste but not many zebra. There were already a lot of dead bloated bodies in the Mara river but we saw none of the crossings. Only cats we saw were lions (lots of lions) and cheetahs. would love to go back, but it's not in my near future.
