For me, and as always it is as much a matter of taste as it is what's right or wrong, I see too much same-o, same-o gray values up against so-so white values. Your tree shadows, especially the one in the foreground are too much like the road, which being the thematic focal point leaves me, the viewer, in a ho-hum state.

Moving the shadow values up in both your whites and shadow grays, changes the viewer's perspective to look more at the road and thus the figure. It's just an idea.
