I am been focusing on studio portraits for past few weeks. Today I had a friend bring her baby over. I took the advice I was given yesterday about moving the subject further away from the backdrop, and I practiced feather lighting and used a reflector on the opposing side.

Hows it looking?

they look good. maybe a touch soft, could use a bit more contrast and try putting some light on the background.

They are very soft, I would go as far to say they are out of focus.
Cute baby! Is your paper white or grey?

They dont look incredibly Focused to me,but the shots are good.

I used Gaussian Blur at 8.0 and faded back to about 25% and gave it some disfuse glow. So the soft look is what I was going for, and that might be why you think they look oof.

For some reason, they are a bit softer here than the actual image in PP, not sure why. The actual image has a bit more contrast too.

I would try to mask the eyes to keep them in focus...
These photos look OOF more then soft and flowy...

i'd have to agree that they are way to soft looking.. not the kind of soft you were going for.. they actually look like camera shake to me. and in 1 the toes look more in focus then her face. i would deffinetly remove the gausian blurr, and just go with a nice crisp image. less is more. (unless your going for the sears look)

+1, when you use Gaussian Blur you need to erase it aound the eyes and lips to keep them sharp. I believe them to be soft to begin with then with the added blur they appear oof.

Motion blur, your shutter speed is too slow, 1/60th and 1/50 respectively. Babies are like pets they move fast and unexpectantly.
