I worked this one through last night. Please let me know what you think!

Was shot with a SB-600 40deg camera left, and a SB-125 150deg Camera Left.

I'm liking this one. :) Personally, I would up the contrast a tiny bit and add a hint of fill light. I don't think this is the most flattering angle for the soon-to-be groom, as this shot gives him 'Dumbo' ears :greenpbl:

I find them very stiff and there is too much space between them. Engaged couples are often sweet to each other as if they are about to get it on. I didnt feel the love between the two. Sorry...

Nope, God gave him Dumbo ears, I just did a poor job of hiding them. :) This kid has ears that would make Alfred E. Neuman himself say "Holy ****! You got some ears on you!"

And Subscuck, thanks for the heads up on the pose. I enjoy this one, looking to give them a look of confidence (bordering on arrogance), but I can see how staring up one's nostrils is off putting.

Its nice seeing these through the eyes of others. Gives me a fresh perspective. Thanks!

Thank you!

I do see your point, but they don't all have to be sappy and draped all over each other. We had quite a few of the joined at the hip/pelvis/lips/kissy kissy pics. We were going for something a little different in this one.

Thanks for the input though, its good to get opinions.

I like the angle and the way they are posed, I feel it fits what i would asume is there attitued. The only thing that bothers me is all the light catching her hair, it keeps pulling my eyes to that. just my $ 0.02. They don't look like they would be the kind of people who would like to be pawing all over eachother for there engagement shoot so i really think this works.

Although I agree with the part I bolded, actually none of them have to be, I still find the pose awkward. He's got his arm around her but there's this big space between them. It's as if he wants to get close but doesn't dare... What does that tell us?

Well the pose tells me a different story but I have previous knowledge of the couple. I have first hand knowledge of their personality and interactions, and I'm sure that is clouding my ability to see this in a negative light. I guess perception of intent is in the eye of the beholder.

Good to know how it makes folks feel though. I will have to try to have a more blind eye in that regard if I get the opportunity to do this again.

No, not necessarily. Some portraits are intended for public consumption and others for private enjoyment. As long as the intended viewer gets what you are trying to convey that's fine. In this case, if the couple gets it, then the pose is fine. Of course, for us here, not knowing them, it is awkward but it doesn't mean much.

On the other hand if it had been shot for public consumption we would be right to wonder what the story being told is...
