I was thinking about this as I looked at the batch of new intro's this morning. There'll be two batches. The ones who got their cameras for Christmas will be pro's by January 15 or there about and the bigger influx will be in mid to late February from tax returns.

I forgot to include Hanukkah. We could be getting them as early as New Year's day (after all the friends say how awesome their NYE pics looked on Facebook).

You may have noticed I have not been posting to the numerous stupid "PRO" posts on here! I find it hilarious when SUPPOSED (self proclaimed) Pro's ask basic beginner questions! It always amazes me when so many of the questions could be so easily answered by a quick google... or a quick search on here (although Google finds stuff on here better than the built in search engine does). I have seen positive comments for shots that would have been blasted as CRAP even a year ago, But I guess being PC is more important then being honest.

I guess the MWAC's are winning... and vastly lowering the level of what is considered acceptable!

I will probably continue not to post, except very rarely... to something I consider worthwhile.

I have and admittedly, when I click on a thread going that way I'm secretly hoping I'll scroll down and see one of your famous Best Buy rants. I bet you were gnashing your teeth over the recent thread a few days ago about the $50 photo shoot.

Can you at least do one every couple of weeks to keep us happy?

Nah, I am giving them the benefit of the doubt... they won't decide they're ready to be professionals for at least 3 weeks.

If it takes them three weeks to decide whether they are ready to be professionals or not, then they clearly are no pros.

Well at least we know that a good portion of them will drop off shortly thereafter, once they realize they aren't "Pro". They discover how hard it really is to create nice photos.

I'm one of the Christmas joiners from last year and there aren't very many of us that are active on here from that pool.

I must say that learned a lot from all of you. I believe that I've progressed nicely in the past year and will continue to improve and would not be where I am today, with out your help.

So to that I say thank you and I'm sure there are others who feel the same.

No danger of me going pro, then. All my family and friends keep telling me to "get that freakin camera out of their face before they break it over my head."

I think if I sneeze too loudly, I might get banned! Might scare off an MWAC and cost the forum owners 1/100 of a cent worth of advertising revenue....

So probably not! But feel free to be honest and verbose when you give your opinions of some of the work posted here... especially if it is a wanna be pro's work! I really can't believe some of the stuff I have seen being complimented... by people that should know better!

Took me a second to get where you were going with the OP, but wow, is it that bad around here? I've been a member on a phone hacking site for a few yrs now, and we get the influx of kids not searching when school is out during summer. I do find it weird the amount of basic questions in the Beyond Basic or Beginning (can't remember what it's called) section here. I am no pro, not even an amateur. More of an enlightened beginner. But yeah, if it's that bad now with the questions asked in the discussion section and not in the Q&A, I can't imagine what it's like after the holidays.

BTW, I voted 8-15. Figured they would read the manual, then join, maybe a day or two later, ask questions without searching.
