Thanks all - I used a Canon 7D and Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L MII - the latter is pretty much (excuse teh pun) a fantastic work horse for this kind of event. For this site its also great because its light enough to use handheld all day. My sigma 120-300mm gives a little more reach, but most of the time that reach isn't a bonus and the 70-120mm range is a significant block of space for this kind of event. Plus its weight is far greater so for mobility its a detriment (one would fatigue faster).
