++1 it works really good with long shutter speeds

Seems like you missed the focus a bit. Do you have live view on your camera? Really helps you get those stars in focus.

Hehehe. I didn't think of the self timer. Thanks for the advice, I got a little to excited for trying something new. Hahaha.

Yeah, I do, the problem was it was to dark that I couldn't see it in live view. It was all guess work. Overall, this was my first time trying something like that so I thought I did a okay job overall.

Plus you're shooting through 50 miles of moving atmosphere, and if the lens has any coma........

They don't put big telescopes on just any handy mountain. The spend a year or two making test images at several sites so they can pick the one that has the best 'seeing'.
