Our Bobi, or in other words: Testing my new Samyang's (85, 135)

Hello guys,

the new Samyangs arrived. And sure I wanted to test them on the only dog in our house which keeps still. Still getting used to the pure manual focus, but it is a great way of taking pictures. Hope you like some of them.

Nice, I'd crop some of the dead space out the first but really like the 2nd.

Top mainly. Personally I'd crop this to a 4:3 aspect ratio (makes the dog more prominent in the frame but still keeps a bit of space) and put the nose just below and slightly camera left of the top right third cross (if that makes sense). Left side is fine I think and of course don't crop the body.

If you use lightroom one thing I quite often do is use the lights off or lights dim function under the window menu in the file bar. So get the crop close, lights off and fine tune without grid lines just to keep some room but maintain balance in the frame

Shallow DOF monsters, both! My suggestion when getting used to MF lenses on an AF body: shoot way MORE shits than you think you will need, due to missed focus being such a big deal with 85 and 135mm length lenses---the focus placement has to be so,so close to perfect at these types of indoor distances that I suggest shooting a lot of 'extra' frames, at least until you get into the groove.

Both lenses appear to put quite a visual impression on the images at this distance and f/stop range.

It would be nice if you numbered your images when you have more than 1 or 2 to post. This makes it a lot easier for a reviewer to comment on a "numbered" image, rather than having to flip back and forth in the posting to ensure they have the right image for their comments.

Thanks Derrel for the Tipp. It is exactly what I was doing, I really shot a lot. Really a lot .

Western guy, I couldn't imagine that it is so hard to pick a number. There are five images, why not say "the 2nd" like weepete did? But to make it more comfortable to give feedback, I will write numbers in them next time. Thanks for the advice.
