I like number one the juxtaposition between the gas pump and the wind turbines in the background is nice.

Thanks! I was having a hard time determining which one I liked better between #1 or #2. So I decided to post both and see what people say.

I agree. This is clearly my favorite of the three.

The only suggestion I have is that I think I would have liked to see a slightly different composition (or even pose) of the gas pump. The meter is a little tight to the right side of the frame, and this angle captures more of the side of the meter box than the (more interesting) front of the box. When I say "pose", I mean that by having the nozzle lie flat it's not as readily identifiable to me as if you had been able to stand it up somehow and get more of a profile of it (as in shot 3). Now, not knowing what all you had to work with outside the frame I can't give specific recommendations, but that's my feel. I suspect you could rotate a little to your right to get more of the front of the box, move it inboard a little, and still have a nice composition with the wind turbine in the background.

#1 is my pick for favorite between them. I like seeing the surrounding environment of that one. It's got a nice grungy texture on several parts which definitely add to the photo.

#1 is my favorite. I think it might of been interesting to focus on the windmills with the gas pump OOF, Showing the transition from oil to renewable.

Thanks for the recommendation! I have another photo from the set where I shot at the front of the box but I just didn't like how it came out. One of the problems with shooting these gas pumps were that they were surrounded by tall bushes and weeds that made it hard to shoot unless I was in a specific location.

What do you think of this one?

I like this one too. You've captured more of the interesting face of the meter, and from this perspective I get a much better feel for the tank. I still think you're missing a bit by having the nozzle lying flat on the tank...maybe if the hose were draped over the meter and the nozzle hanging down you'd get more impact from it. And I do miss the wind turbines and the story they impart to the shot.
