Paddlesurfer at Whitesands Beach, St David's West Wales

It's not usual for me to do any kind of action shots, and the D800E isn't the ideal instrument to do such shots with. But with a paddle surfer out doing his thing in the receding tide off Whitesands Beach, St David's, West Wales, I grabbed my D800E and AF-S 300 f/4 and had a go. The surfer even smiled for me as he came out of the sea....

That's not quite what I said, but I can see why you might've taken that view. There are better cameras for this kind of shoot with faster burst and larger buffer. i did miss some shots as I had to wait for the buffer to clear. The D800e is capable for sure.

Paddleboarders are cray, for real. The other day I saw one that was easily half a mile out in the ocean.
