Found some local artists painting in the Everglades . Just one interpretation .

with the background so blurred, im not seeing in the background what the painting was meant to portray. (im guessing it was a painting of some swamp brush?)
I like the composition though, and the picture is sharp. nicely done.

Yea its similar to the ones off to right of frame. Unfortunately I was a bit far and my with me perspective I could not get the exact bush she was painting. Thank you for the nice comments.

Just judging from the colors in the sky alone, I'd say that the scene in the background was only a point of inspiration for the painting, and not what it is attempting to depict.
However, I think as a photograph, it would probably work better if the painting DID more accurately depict the landscape. It's still a nice idea, though.

If the background was the same as the painting, this would be totally uninteresting. We'd have a picture of a half-finished painting made by someone who can mix colors and smear them on canvas. As it is, we have a picture of a half finished painting by someone who is clearly seeing past what's actually out there, and envisioning a better and more beautiful swamp. We don't need the background in focus to get the point, and by pushing it OUT of focus we make it look a little painterly as well, which lets us better compare what matters between the painting and the real world.
