panasonic fz40 or canon sx20 is?

hello, i'm new to this forum. i'm a complete newbie in photography and so i want kind help from the experts here.
i'm planning buy a bridge camera, so please suggest me between panasonic lumix fz40 and canon sx20 is... both seems good enough(i will use these cams to learn the basics of photography, will buy a SLR later on)... thank u

I've owned the Panasonic FZ35 and FZ100....you can't go wrong with either. FZ100 wins out for features, but is much more expensive....
