Panning Today

I had some time to I went out to practice some panning. A while back I had the ability to shoot with some really good equipment. Today I tried with my own stuff. Ill have to be honest, I was not impressed but here are a few. Nikon D80 with 18-135 lenses.

I think it looks weird because they are going from right to left as opposed left to right.

1 - not bad not great(could have shot this faster than 1/40th)
2 - blurry, can't read whats on the jacket(should i shoot faster or slower???)
3 - im actually happy with this car shot but please help me out
4 - i think they too far to the left and also there must have been something in the
background because there is something there causing a distraction
