Thanks fellas
I spent 1/2-hr wandering thru their educational displays + a dozen or so children's torment activities- both indoors and outdoors and it was all quite interesting. Then the 20-min audio-visual displays of current & past achievements was also of interest
Q- do you know that the WiFi that we use so widely was created here at the Parkes radio telescope? ... as a means of getting different bits of electronic gear to actually talk to another bits, whereas beforehand it was difficult because of proprietary software that did not match other maker's stuff
It was then taken up by all the major I,T players via licencing and brings in lots of $$ to Australia's CSIRO people who run the telescope (+ heaps of other stuff)
