IKR. He was back away from the fence too far to get that close to him. There was one that was right by the fence that I thought for a second, my son (7) was going to do that with his finger. lol.

That might be the case. There was a lot of paparazzi there snapping photos of him.

Yes, Bedford Camera and Nikon did a lens loan on Saturday and I went with a friend so he could try out the 300mm f/4. (I shoot Canon so they didn't have any stuff for me to try)
