Pelicans came to town

[HL45]

These guys showed up about a week ago on a local lake. I've been struggling somewhat with the EF 100-400 lens, got some good practice with these birds!

I think you caught some nice images there.
I like 4 and 5 the best.

Very nice ...I like the ones in flight.... here in NC they are mostly grey and not as pretty as the ones you captured

I like #2 and #5 though I'd tighten the crop on #2. We get a few of the whites here but mostly the Louisiana browns. Either or, they're fun birds.

IF you increase the brightness of #2 and #3 I think you'll see something that looks a lot better. Best way is to set a white point right on the back of either of the birds on the left of #2 and the right of #3. All of that open sky fooled your meter and underexposed the shot.

Love #4 and #5 but I'd crop #4 a bit tighter.

I'm jealous. We get gulls here but I've never seen a Pelican this far inland. Great shots.

Thanks for the comments and tips! The local paper said we had between 700 to 1000 birds on the lake at one point, luckily they were close to the parking area the day I was there.
