I drove down to the Hiawassee Wildlife refuge over the weekend to shoot some photos of the migrating sandhill cranes. There were a lot of them there, but there will be thousands within a few weeks. I had heard that the pelicans would also migrate to the refuge, but I was never fortunate enough to see them. Well, that all changed last weekend. I was shooting photos of the sandhill cranes when all of a sudden a couple hundred pelicans flew by and landed in the lake. There were probably 1,000 feet or more from me. I had my Canon 5dmkiv, with the Sigma 150-600 sports lens and the 2X extension. I got a lot of photos, but they were still quite far away. Here is one I was able to get.
