Pentax kc1000

If you mean K1000, Pentax made a guesstimated 3 million between 1976 and the mid 1990s. Legendary camera.

Thank you, it is a K1000, I said kc because of rhe way its on the camera. It kinda looks like a fancy attempt at a c after the k sorry.

The K1000 was introduced n 1976, and quickly became a favorite because of its simplicity and durability. The all metal camera was built like a tank. I still have the one I bought when they first came out, somewhere (can't remember where :grumpy:). The dedication to backward/forward compatibility on glass has kept me a loyal user for over 50 yrs, having first started with the Spotmatic.

I'm not sure I know what you mean by backward/forward compatibility lol, but I know it's a good thing 🙂

Lenses that mounted to the K1000 will mount on current models, and Current Lenses will mount on the K1000. In the case of backward compatibility new communication features won't work, but you can use the lens as full manual. I have some legacy glass that I still use on my K1M22

The reason why I own a K-70 is that I owned a K1000 for decades (and still own it). When I decided that I wanted a DSLR I started with just the K-70 body using the K1000 glass. Over the years I have purchased newer glass, but my two longest focal length lenses are still manual (I seldom use them, and so manual is not a problem).

Back in the day, I was yearbook adviser at Mannington Middle School. We had no photo equipment when I took over. The 1st thing I did was to purchase a Pentax K1000, 28, 50, and 135mm Takmar lenses and a Vivatar 383 Flash because this was by far the best bang for the buck. The K1000 is a very capable film camera.

Still have mine I got for Xmas back in 1980. IMO the K1000 is one of the all time top 10 cameras ever made.

That's cool I've been in kind of a rut lately, thought I'dake photography my hobby. I'm going to see if I can find some film today and take a few shots.

@Rick_n_TN I've lived in two different photography worlds. I started in film when it was king, you could buy it anywhere...cheap. 1hr developing was equally available in stores and little Kiosks in parking lots. If you mailed your film off for development they'd send you a free roll back.

Now film is mostly only available by mail, as is developing, and the costs have gone up exponentially.

Film still works if the old ecosystem(shops+labs)survives but absent that, it's pricey and a PITA.
Arranging clearance of my 35mm gear: pleasantly shocked by offers for a pair of mint, mint- Nikon F3, F3HP+NOS MD4 drives. Holding MF kits.Big negs still rule.

Yup pretty hard to justify 35mm film now.
Yup. I hoovered up too much nice 35mm stuff 10-15 yrs ago when it was giveaway-priced on the big auction site. Finding that clean gear I bought then is premium priced now against the iffy beater junk on offer.

We raised our development prices up 2 years ago. Which is great because developing BW film for the photo store I work at helped me buy a house. We are the only game in town for film.
Color film $8.50 dev only, $13.50 with 2000 res scan. Average daily count 70-100 rolls.
BW film $10 dev only, ad $4.95 for 2000 res scan. Average monthly count 100-150 rolls.
