The person appears out of focus. With such a strong silhouette, I would prefer seeing the outline sharp

Not sure the vignette works (well, actually, it doesnt for me). Fishing on an open beach with the vastness of the water, and then you confine the image and the feel with the vignette. Seems opposite when I look at what the image shows me vs what is done to the image.

I agree about the vignette ... it serves to "close" the image, rather than open it, which I think would work best.

I agree as well. The non-vignette is better, but the subject is blurry as Twinky said, and your horizon is tilted.

My horizon is always tilted. I need to get a tripod, badly!
Or learn how to fix it in Photoshop.

To rotate and line up the horizon in photoshop.


1) Click Rotate from the Image menu and choose the degrees of rotation.

2) To enter a specific number, select Free and type in the number. Click OK.

I do like the second one better, ditto on the out of focus on the person. Like the shot though, just the focus on the fisherman is a bit soft.

No.. the subject is still out of focus. Vignette, no vignette... doesn't make much of a difference to me if the picture isn't sharp.

I think because it's just above the horizon, it really draws attention to how it is a little blurry.
