Interesting angle - I'm interested in knowing where you took this shot from - you're obviously looking out the BF Parkway towards the Art Museum. This looks almost like it was taken from Billy Penn atop City Hall, but I didn't know they'd opened it back up.. ??

Ah - sort of suspected it might have been there, but I wasn't sure it was still standing. I worked downtown at 3 Penn Center during the early 80s and we gave several seminars there, at the time it was the biggest nearby hotel. I always thought the round tower looked a little out of place in Philly, as near as it was to all the old Greek Revival places. There's been so much (re)construction downtown in the last couple of decades I hardly recognize the place anymore. Nice shot, again.

Vacillating on my answer. It's a good shot and I like the angle but either the exposure is way off or it is processed too dark for my liking. I'm not seeing any detail through the trees and I should be seeing lots. Reprocess and repost as I really want to "like" this.

Use your quick select tool and isolate the sky and some of the background just beyond the last buildings. Invert the selection, make a copy and change the screen mode to "Screen" at 100%. Using a soft brush at 33% opacity, bring back some of the darker tones on the main boulevard and see if you don't think the original isn't too dark. You can also use the same brush to blend the background selection area back into the total shot....it is just a starting place...but perhaps a place for you to germinate a better way to increase the overall tonal range...in my ever so humble opinion, it is definitely worth the time.

The only trees you would see with this shot might be around the fountain there in the Logan Circle area. And of course, there are trees lining the Ben Franklin Parkway out to the Museum. Just for grins, here is the Google Earth view of the same perspective.

Right where it says B. Franklin highway, there are trees and those trees are in his shot as well as a few more in front of the Franklin Institute...I've obviously already had a go at the image and know there is a more detailed view hidden in the darkness...:mrgreen:
