Hi, Not sure if this is the correct forum but gotta question... A few months back I took some save the date photos for a young couple for their upcoming wedding. I gladly did so but declined the opportunity to do the wedding because I didn't really feel qualified for that yet. To shorten the story, wedding day comes and a photographer shows up that has used one of my photographs for memorandums/souvenirs of the couple's wedding day for guests to take with them with a nice little quote on it and also the photographers watermark on the front and also their name on the back. The photographer had requested a photo of the couple prior of the wedding for this purpose... you think this should have been done?

well, I would definitely do that if they were making money of my photo; which they kinda might be using it as an advertisement type thing...

Oh yes its advertising, its also theft since he is putting his watermark on your photo.

I would want to talk to a lawyer first and foremost concerning this - chances are if the photographer is prepared to use anothers photo in such a way then they've probably done so before and they might also have armed themselves with some legal sounding jargon to bluff their way out of it.

Uhh, a 'keepsake' with a watermark? Of course it's advertising. He's making money off your work.
