Photo Shoot C&C Please

IMO, No.1 shadows on her chin. Top of back ground to busy.
No.2, again shadows on her face from her hair. Touch up her left leg (thigh).
No.3 shadows on face.
No.4, like the angle shot alot.
No.5 maybe a bit under exposed?? at least on my monitor.

Thanks you for the advice. This was my first time playing with off camera flashes.

In the first 3 it looks like you used bare flash, you need to get an umbrella or softbox to soften the light, the only thing in your favour at this stage is you look to have a willing model

Lighting and camera perspective can be used to minimize unflattering facial and body features and to maximize flattering facial and body features.

are you using the built in flash?
He said he used off camera flash...
The shadows in #2 and #3 indicate he also used on camera flash or flash very close to the lens axis.

The OP's profile indicates they use a Nikon D90 and if Nikon's built-in CLS flash control/triggering system was used in Commander mode to fire the OCF the built-in flash or other on-camera Nikon unit would have to be used.

i used the commander mode on my camera
i actually am just learning to use the off camera flashes
i will be practicing some more with diffusers and softboxes will have some more up tonight or tomorrow
Thanks for all the feedback

If you're using the camera commander mode to control the external flashes, you can disable the onboard camera. It will fire to control the external flashes but it won't affect the exposure. I was confused at first when I was testing it out. :D

1. Lighting from left of camera to subjects back, harsh shadows across face. Busy back ground. Needed some fill. Vertical maybe.
2. Lighting seems better but pose is a little awkward, watch your framing.
3. I'm not sure what's going on here, did you catch her off guard or football pose? Not level.
4. Angle shots do nothin for me, it's gimicky. Shoulders are square to camera, pose is not appealling. Lighting is almost blown out on legs.
5. Ok, hand chopped, lines in mud and muddy toes are distracting to me, crop closer and at the same time level your horizon. I actually like this one the best.
Watch your framing and keep horizon level.
Keep working at it, does take time and practice.

first three look like she was shot in front of a shower curtain. and positioning is hard to follow. and pretty much what they said.
