Photobucket or Flickr?

I am curious to everyones thoughts on whether I should use photobucket or Flickr and are there any benefits with either?

I see a lot of people use Flickr so is it better? I ask because I have had a photobucket account for a while but it's seems I am one of the only ones?

IMO - Flickr is much better, if you pay for the 'Pro' account ($24/yr.).

I hated Flickr when I just had the free account, but somebody 'gifted' me the pro account and I haven't let it expire yet. Some people are wondering about the future of Flickr though, with all the problems Yahoo is having...

I have both Photobucket and Flickr, but don't much care for Flickr.

I use Flickr for keepers.. and don't usually post to forums from there, although it is possible. Flickr does a nicer job than photobucket if you post from there with larger shots.. they don't over do the compression.

I use photobucket for posting to forums... but I resize (no larger than 900 on a side) the photos before uploading them to photobucket, as if you allow them to compress/resize... the shots look like crap. If you resize/compress prior to uploading them, Photobucket is fine. I also do a lot of noob edits, and fun edits.. that I only post here, and use photobucket for that.. since I would not want the general public or my clients seeing those.

I've been using PB for a long time. Recently upgraded my account for unlimited bandwidth.

Quality-wise, PB scales back your files to save disk space.

This photo was uploaded as 3835 x 2118 pixels, however after upload it is automatically re-sized to 799 x 441

For sake of comparison, I'll sign up for flickr right now and do the same upload:

I like the interface on PB personally. Until you pay for your own hosting, it looks like your quality will always suffer.

I don't care for Flickr for the sole reason I must do about 9 thousand mouse clicks to extract any exif data from an image posted here. PB is just two.

I used to hate that too, but lately I find that I don't really have any interest in seeing the exif anyway... Not sure what changed.

What does piss me off is when they say what film and developer they used, but they don't say a time or dilution. Not that I'm trying to 'steal' their recipie or anything, but a starting point is always nice.

I find it handy when answering noob questions like, "Why did my picture turn out so red?" or "How do I make the background blurry in this photo?" Having access to the exif data helps answer the question.

question... if someone sets their exif data to private on flickr, can you still find out that information? i understand why people hide it but it helps those trying to learn to see what settings were used.

From what I understand Flickr completely removes the exif data. Could be wrong though.

It doesn't remove it, it just makes you click a few buttons to see it. There is an option to hide it though.
