Truly Excellent candids
Well framed and exposed and each captures a moment the parent and others would be interested in seeing

Very, very well done

You caught one child mid-blink which might be funny to her classmates, but for me, not so much.

BTW: what are those women doing to the potatoes?

This series is somewhat puzzling because the adults are serving food, but it seems very informal.

Very nice

Looks like they're peeling them?
Looks to me as if they are cutting out the eyes, which is quite strange and pretty much a waste of time because if they were peeling them, the eyes are gone anyway, but to not peel them, and only cut out the eyes is very strange indeed.

It kind of looks like that, but they're holding peelers, not knives. If you look at the woman on the right, her potato looks almost completely peeled. Also, the amount of skin on the table led me to believe they were peeling them, not solely taking the eyes out.

I hope you got a release or waiver.

For what?

Displaying images of minors on the internet. Normally a school will have parents sign a blanket waiver for posting stuff to facebook etc..

The elementary school is closed. The nonprofit organization is using that facility every Sunday to educate kids about art and craft, prepping food, and other responsibilities. The parents were there, and the organizer had gotten permission to let me take pictures during the event.

Your flash exposures look okay in general. On shots like #5, it's always good to make sure somebody's backside is not in the picture before snapping the shot.

Somebody needs to show those women how to peel potatoes.

Either that or serve them scrubbed with the peels on. More vitamins that way anyhow.

I am thinking that the most likely scenario is that they are de-eyeing them so the kids can cut them into sections, and then make "potato stamps" out of them, and not be repulsed by eyes on the spuds. I dunno...nothing else makes much sense.

They're going to a lot of work to get the eyes out, so I'm curious.

I've done potato stamping. I've cut potatoes for planting. I've peeled them, and cooked them with peels, so I think I've seen most things you do with potatoes, and what they're doing isn't one of them.

I think your framing seems to be improving! I'd still keep an eye on the edges of the frame so you're not catching the edges of people or objects, etc. (like #5 I might have waited til the person in the jeans moved on by or try cropping the top edge slightly) but this is a nice set, I feel like I can tell what the pictures are about, what the subject is.

I think the one with the girl with her eyes closed actually works - she looks like she's sucking down that drink thru that straw in one long gulp! like she needs to come up for air - which kids do sometimes so for me the picture tells a story. #7 is priceless, what a face!

That's how I learned, what my mom did, you peel and use the tip of the knife to remove the eyes, the peeling doesn't necessarily get them out. Of course that's not what I do now, I don't peel much of anything unless absolutely necessary! and I like potato skins.

And with kids who needs to peel to carve a design for stamping?? not me! lol
