Photography EMERGENCY Please Help!!!

I really beat myself up when I looked back at these on the viewfinder, but when i got them home I didn't hate them so much.

Of course my memory card that was supposed to arrive yesterday did not, so I had to go into the shoot with just 8 GB memory. I was afraid of running out of room so I just chose to shoot Jpeg and skip the RAW, also I didn't want to be worrying about disk space instead of taking the pictures.

I had the lense set to the widest focal length trying to blur the background behind them, but there didn't seem to be enough room for me to fit all of them into the frame, so I had to pull back a bit for most of the shots. Also I had someone directing me to shoot them against the background rather than askew from it, so that didn't help.

Let me have it, what do I need to do differently to make them better? Any specific ideas about what I should do with photoshop? (Besides the obvious removing background objects and fixing skin)

Thank you to everyone who helped me out yesterday, I probably would have pictures that looked much ****tier if not for your quick response and advice.

Don't do yourself down - the're not bad, especially as a first attempt

I wouldn't worry to much about the backgrounds - they are mostly plain anyway, although the colour wouldn't be my first choice ;)

The exposure is fine throughout. You've got a few where the light is a little harsh, so you could try some dodging and burning (IMG212 for example), some with items in the background which could be removed using cloning (the lamp - IMG180 and IMG222). IMG145 you've managed to blur the two girls at the back, which is a shame. A portrait orientation for the camera might have been better on that one. You've chopped the girl on the right's leg at the knee in IMG180 (cuts at joints are usually bad), but the rest of the image is quite strong.

IMG121 has some blur due to the shutter speed being too slow (1/30) and is one of the few where the background is distracting. Some here might be able to save it, but I would be inclined to write that one off.

Why not post a few here for review? You'll get more specific suggestions that way. I think 195 and 180 are two of the best, but what do I know

I'm going to fix blemishes and take out that background crap before I show it to her. I think they'll be happy with them, considering I think we all left thinking it was a complete fail.

Thanks for all the support you guys. I owe you one.
