Photojournalism Portfolio

Well, here it is. The portfolio I'm going to use alongside a separate Resume to send to any prospective clients (some of whom I'm going to call tommorrow).

Design-ally, I was going for a simple and professional yet still aesthetically pleasing look. I like to think I've achieved that, but as I've done very little of my own design work, I don't have much to compare it to. Photographically, I was attempting to show a wider variety of work that a typical newspaper would expect (ie: people, sports, events, concerts, some portraits, as well as some conceptual shots).

Thoughts? Comments? Critiques? Any and all is appreciated.

(Side note, I hope it doesn't take too long to load for you...it's a fairly sizeable PDF at 4.1MB. Any tips on how to decrease the size without the use of Distiller?)

I think it's really great. Definitely met your goal of showing variety. I might even include a few more photos though.

My only gripe about the number of shots is that I wanted to keep it relatively down, and only the best/most fitting. Therefore, alot of the more artsy shots got cut for this particular portfolio; were I to apply at a studio or as an assistant, I'd probably switch up about half of this. Besides, I can imagine that most editors and such won't have all day to look at portfolios, and 10 seemed like a nice, round number to keep it at.

That looks awesome. I agree-- there's lots of excellent variety. I'm striving (in the future) to become a photo journalist, so this is really inspiring as well. Good luck!
