Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I know there is an easy way to expand the borders of a photo and have Photoshop fill that intelligently. So I thought I would find out how to do that.

It sounds so easy. Per Adobe, "Just click and drag beyond the borders of your image to the size you want," then "click Generate to immediately fill the empty space with newly generated high-quality content that naturally blends with the existing image."

Where's the Generate button?
Where's Generate.webp

Can't find the Generate button. If I click on Generative Expand, it says lamely that I need to drag the canvas to expand first.

OK, never mind. Got it to work.

After two or three attempts all giving the intractable screen above, with nowhere to go, I now get a Contextual Task Bar that allows me to enter a prompt if I wish, and shows a Generate button. It fills the empty spaces as it is supposed to.

No matter what I do, I can't recreate the situation I got the first few times.

Mystery.

I also see "Generative Fill" under Edit, in the fifth group down (fill, strroke, content-aware fill, ...)

So how does the new image look? Did it generate some extra lower neck into the image?

@Thiophilos the fastest, easiest method is to use the shortcut: Ctrl+k (Command on mac) to bring up/turn off the toolbar

Yes, thanks.

I always used to do this by going to Image > Canvas Size, expand as necessary, highlight the new canvas, and do Content-Aware Fill or Generative Fill. But Adobe was touting its new capabilities, and I wanted to try the new way.

Generative Fill works following your instructions, but the new method gives a better result. Not sure that is always going to be the case, because GenFill doesn't always do it the same way.
