Picked up another DSLR! Need input.

After not having a DSLR for I'd say 1-2 years, I finally got another one yesterday. A D40 with a non-VR 55-200. Despite the fact that it can't take close up pictures, I still love the lens. I had a D40 18-55 kit before and I liked it. But this zoom is awesome!

Can anyone recommend a cheap close-up lens? It seems like a 28mm is a good choice. But someone said it might not work with my D40 since it's an older model and it might not af? Can anyone verify this statement?

Anyways, after I got it, I started playing with it and took some pictures of my cat on portrait mode. Let me know what you guys think!

The last one was taken on the flower/macro mode by accident. He was sitting in the window when I came home so I took it kinda quick. Everything else is in portrait.

I am pretty sure D40 handles AF-S lens, check out --> Nikon D40

It appears that the D40 only doesn't work with traditional AF lens as mentioned in that review. So if the lens is AF-S it should be fine!

The D40 will auto focus both AF-S and the older AF-I lenses.
