Picture Resolution

I am new to the forum. I have been taking pictures for about a year now with my T2i. I use photoshop elements to edit picture. How to I keep the pixels large so I can print larger photos online?

As long as your T2i's file size option is still set to the default - Large/Fine - your photo have more resolution (5184 x 3456 pixels) than most people's computer display can show.
My desktop computer's display resolution is set to 1600 x 1200.

The only way to make your photos smaller (lower resolution) is to crop away pixels.

Just about all web sites re-size photos to less than 100% so the entire photo can be seen on a computer display, and you have no control over that.
You can control the photo file size by reducing the quality setting post process. NOTE:: File size is the mega bytes, and resolution is the mega pixels.

NOTE #2: PPI (often wrongly called DPI) is meaningless, and has no effect for online display.

TommyD, It's difficult to answer your question because I'm not certain exactly what you mean. Pixels are the blocks which make up an image and the dimensions of the image are stated in pixels - in your camera 5184 wide x 3456 high. Pixels stay the same size but the image that you see on your screen is made larger or smaller by the software you are using without changing the number of pixels unless you specifically do that. I suggest you do some reading about 'resolution' and 'changing size of jpeg image' and that should clear things up, or at least give you the definitions so you can get the answers you want. Lew
