Pictured Wing Fly

Family: Pictured Wing Fly (Ulidiidae)
Species: Delphinia picta

These flies always crack me up the way they wobble around with their wings spread out.

How do you do that?
I don't mean the equipment but how do you manage to have the time to set up and then take multiple (or even a single) shot of insects?

Thanks Steve. As for setup...no setup really...they're all handheld so the only setup is getting in the right position. All about the timing I guess....only actually spent maybe 4-5 minutes with this guy.

That is one weird critter right there. Almost looks like a false wasp.

Flys are odd subjects. Sometimes they are really skiddish and other times they will let you get right up on them.
