Pinup style photoshoot in urban Japan

From Saturday's photoshoot. The theme's goal was to contrast classic western pinup with modern urban Japan.

#4 and #5 are really nice. Like how you subtly show her tat in 4, but 5 is my overall fav--has a nice mood and color. I think her head in #6 is too close to the top of the frame.

There's a classic McDonald's banner and restaurant in Roppongi Hills that would be a cool with this model. It's near the Spider.

By the way, I wanted to highlight #5 a bit. That photo was kind of an exercise in looking for interesting light opportunities. Most of the photos in this set were taken with off-camera flash (which is probably pretty obvious in many of them) but I used a Japanese drink vending machine in #5 as a large softbox. I just positioned her carefully to get the light I wanted. In the full resolution picture, the softbox-esque catchlight in her eyes is revealed to instead be a lot of smaller lights along with the light being bounced off the inside of the vending machine.

When you're not using coke machines for light, what ARE you using?

Most of these were shot either with shoot through umbrellas, or the ray flash off camera.

#4 is my pick. If it were not for the tattoo, there might not be enough "modern Japan" in any of these. So #4 is it.

No 4 is the best here by far IMHO. A good, natural shot. All the rest to me is not pinup enough to represent the genre and as a result look a bit awkward.

Yes! I also kinda like 4 for the tattoo.

I'm also curious about the processing on 7.. I think I like it.

I love #7. You have the tattoo to add to the modern, the lanterns to add to the not so modern, the great heels and a nice pose. That one is the winner for me.
