have you seen the aussie movie 'The Last Wave'? for some reason it reminds of the pipe on the beach in that film.

perhaps it was used to pump out pollution at some point?

The starnge thing about it is that it was on its own. It dident go anywhere. To me it looks like its off a ship or somthing like that.
