Playing around in Photofiltre

So I took this one and it was horribly grainy with a lot of noise. I like the expression on my kitten's face, but not alot else. Did the edit turn out okay? what could i have done better? i have GIMP and photofiltre.... not very good on gimp but can manage. any ideas?

(i know this was not a good picture, you can tear apart the pic if you like, i'm just wondering about my PP skills.... =P )

i cropped, cloned out some dust spots, and 'photomasqued' with fog (whatever that means)

The one with a dreamy feeling is the edit. The second one is the orginal.

I don't particularly see anything really appealing about this picture. The cat is cut off, there's a huge white blurred floor on the bottom, it looks as if it was exposed incorrectly, the colors look weird, and it's kind of boring.
