I am looking for a lens for my Nikon D5100. I am 18 and about to go off to college. I have some money to spend for one but not much. Any help would be amazing. I am looking for any lens that would fit it. Thank you

What lenses do you currently have? What is your budget? What do you intend to use the lens for?

Looks like you are looking for a zoom lens, maybe 55-200? Budget $50? Dont think you can get a lens for that... :-/

Does anyone have a lens that would work. I really need one

check craigslist and ebay. I recently bought one for sports and it isnt what I really want but ran me 1526.00... good luck with the fifty...wish I could help my stuff is all canon

Well, yeah, I have a couple that would work. I have a 70-300 that ran a bit over $500 new and I have a 150-500 that was a bit over $1,000 new. They aren't for sale, but I do have them.

Any lens with enough focal length to allow you to shoot birds and sports that falls in the $50 range is going to have about as much image quality as a toilet paper tube. Good lenses with a focal length of 200mm or greater, which is what you need for birds and sports, are not cheap. I do see the 70-300 on Nashville Craig's List from time to time for around $300 but that's about the cheapest I've seen.

Dang fella, You don't need help, You need a handout. Good luck with your search.

Try to find time to do some odd jobs, make some scratch, and buy something good.
For the d5100 I would look at the afs 70-300 vr.
Any lens you get needs to have the focus motor in the lens, due to the fact that a d5100 does not has a focus motor in the body.
AFS lenses are designed for that camera group. Do some research.

Best of luck to you.

I suggest you get... A JOB. lol something part time that'll give you some scratch for your hobby. Photography ain't cheap. sorry =/

Thanks guys for the help. Does anyone have a vintage camera for sell. I also collect cameras and vinyl records lol. And thank you for the info I am really new to this.

Sell those to fund the lens you said you want.

I think I will just save up. I love my vintage camera's I am looking to add to them. But thanks for the advice

So much cheaper than many other hobbies, including my former hobby of cars.
