Is the D80 like the D200... where the flash will NOT fire automatically, but if you want a flash, you have to manually open it... then in P or Auto mode, it will adjust and flash?

So, even with it in fully automatic, we could have done better ourselves? I would have thought with it in automatic it would have made the necessary adjustments to get a good pic.

I've found that DSLRs on A do worse than P&S cameras on A simply because that's not really what it's designed for.

Your mistake was using a Nikon. Bahaha.

What the heck are you talking about? You don't even know your Canons. The Canon Digital Rebel XTi is not the Canon 300D.
