Please recommend a good off-camera shoe sync cord for Canon 40D and 580EXII

I use cactus triggers, v5 to be specific. I read a lot of good things about them- great range and very good reliability. I have not had them long enough to attest to their reliability, but so far (about a month) I haven't had one not fire. You are of course limited as another poster said to using manual mode. Pocket wizards make some that are ttl compatible but are a lot of money. I think there are some other cheaper ttl radio triggers but I don't think I would trust them. If you want to check out the cactus triggers look up gadget infinity- I am not sure of the exact address, but probably Gadget Infinity.

I just bought this one from ebay but haven't opened the package yet. I'll probably test it in a few days. It's a 10 meter (33 ft) for 33 bucks. I also have flash triggers for wireless flash. 10M Flash TTL Off Camera Shoe Cord for Canon OC-E3 E5F on eBay.ca (item 280609772333 end time 29-Jan-11 02:20:23 EST)
Once you play around with it a little, I'd be interesting in hearing more about it. Maybe some pictures (of the cord) too.

The picture they have on the link you posted is the OC-E3, which is definitely not 10 meters long...

Why do you say it's not 10 meters long? The photo shows 2 cords. I just stretched mine to 30 ft and still more to go if i wanted to stretch it further...

Umm... Because the picture they show on the link is of the OC-E3, not the product they are apparently selling...? I have the OC-E3, and it is nowhere near 10 meters long...
The photo I saw only showed one cord (the OC-E3)...

I'm not sure what you're looking at but when i click on that link i see 2 cords. One is hooked to a camera and one is just laying there and it is the product that they are selling. Even though your cord may not be 10 meters long they do sell different lengths, i looked at 3 different lengths of this cord. You think there is only one length? This is just an example of an off camera cord, if it's not the OC-E3 you want then just do the search for the correct one. Here's the photo that i see in that link...

Of the OC-E3, yes - there is only one length.

I didn't see that other picture when I commented before... When I went there last night, all I saw was the picture of the OC-E3, and now that isn't even showing for some reason...

Those are not made by Canon, and are not the OC-E3 ... very similar though. It does look like a good deal though - half the price of the OC-E3 and three times the length.

I thought I saw a comment in this thread that said "Radio Shack ... you've got questions - we've got blank stares"... I don't see it now though...

So true... I went to Radio Shack earlier today to get a 3.5mm miniphone jack so I can mod my 580EX II (I'm going to replace the PC jack with a 3.5mm miniphone jack)... Like this.

As soon as I walked in, an employee comes up and asks if I need help (I think they work on commission). I said that I was looking for "a three and a half millimeter miniphone jack"... Just got a blank stare...
Then I said "you know, the kind of thing you would plug some headphones into"... The lady took me over to where all the small components were and I found it myself...

I remember going to Radio Shack back in the day and talking to people that actually knew a thing or two about the stuff they sell... These days, it seems that if you aren't buying a new cell phone, they could care less.

It really sucks, because they are pretty much the only place (around here anyway) that you can walk into and buy small parts for electronics...

edit
Mod is done. Looks and works great.

I just happened to be looking for the same thing. I purchased a cord which was not compatible so I called the store I purchased it from and they referred a similar product:

So I am in the process of making the exchange. I love that store, it is the only place I purchase from and the employees are very helpful, and the prices are awesome (especially when they have sales).

A 2 meter cord for $32.95 and you say it's an awesome price. I got my 10 meter cord for that price on ebay. A 3 meter cord is about 17 bucks. Free shipping...
