A few weeks ago, I took my gorgeous friend, Mel out on a Disney inspired photoshoot as Pocahontas. Any feedback would be appreciated :)

2 and 5 look frankly silly. They look like a pretty girl dressed up vaguely like someone's idea of an indian, standing around in some sort of scrubby woods.

1 and 4 are somewhere between good an excellent. They accentuate the eyes and her (to my white-boy eyes) exotic look. They have a hint of "Pocahontas" without being odd looking.

I don't know what to make of 6. It looks over processed, and it's not clear what she's looking at, or why. It may be framed too tightly for the idea you're trying to give us?

She's lovely.

I think I can see what your intent was with the shoot, but I'm not 100% sure you acheived it.

1. Not bad, but I would prefer to see herlooking more (but not directly) toward the camera. Watch the fly-away hairs image right. They really hurt. Good monochrome conversion.

2. This doesn't work for me at all. Way too much DoF, the pose is.... well... awkward and the expresion forced. In order to pull something like this off, you need to go all the way with the accessories, and the blue blanket doesn't cut it.

3. This should have been shot vertically to include more of the hand. Good exposure and colour.

4. If the foreground didn't have the large white strip in the middle, this would be much stronger.

5. Potential here, but you needed a couple of foreground lightsto knock down the ambient. The blown sky is really killing this, and why the tight crop? NEVER bisect a limb along its lateral axis!

6. Unfortunate composition. Without the leaf "resting" on her chin, this would be a nicer image.

It's a good start on a neat theme, but I think you need to revisit it. Spend a little more time in the prep & research stages.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

Her facial expressions in 2 and 5 are frankly very deer in a headlight esque and evoke a "lost" look more so then anything else I can think of. As a matter of fact it seems her expression when her head is shot fully framed is the same on all the photos its like she is trying to force a certain look. I think getting her to make more natural expressions that are much less forced would be helpful. I also agree with amolitor on going full on with the accessories and costumes to bring a sense of reality and to sell the theme with more emphasis.

1 Is nice, simple, i get it. 4 is a nice pose but would of been better with a LOT shallower DOF. 2 Is the weakest image, just looks like your friend at a party that you told to stand next to a tree and took a snap with your disposable. 3 Needs more punch, the subject is the neckelace but its out of focus.
