Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
I went to take some pictures at Point Pelee National Park yesterday.
I took over 200 pictures, but here are two of my butterfly pictures.

Note: You may notice some decrease in quality or blurring, but it is because the photo's resolution has been decreased to allow it to be uploaded to this website.

When uploading photos online its best to:

1) Perform all needed editing upon the fullsized version of the photo - save a copy.

2) Sharpen the fullsize version to the level desired.

3) Resize the fullsize version to a size suitable for online display (between 720 and 1000 pixels on the longest side is a good area to be in).

4) Sharpen the photo again after resizing - this restores the drop in sharpness as a result of data loss during the resizing process.

5) Upload and enjoy.

Notes that for improved results you can resize in two or three steps - choosing to resize by less and sharpen - then resize again and sharpen (typically when doing this the amount of sharpening at each stage decreases).

Never let online web-hosts resize for you as most only use default code and don't all apply sharpening; if they do the sharpening is non-specific so its only a general level that won't suit all photos (for some its too much others too little).

I recommend uploading to shutterfly then locate the image you uploaded on shutter and right click Copy Image URL and then post it to the forum using Upload From URL and then uncheck the box Retrieve remote file and reference locally. The it will post the image as it is displayed in shutterfly

Thank you both for the tips on uploading images.
I will most certainly perform these steps next time.
