Though in the end we did get one decent shot

And because my remote wasn't working I had to dash really fast to get back into position! And there are loads of other problems like not enough space - corners of the softbox sneaking in - reflections in the windows (thankfully we have curtains) - and loads of other niggles but eh good enough (plus I dun get paid!).

Sadly the others gave up with husky in the photo - she didn't quite get the idea of head toward the camera

edit:
Father - Mother - Brother - sisters BF on the sofa
Sister - Sister - Me - on the floor
Brothers GF - Brother on the far right
Husky - in the garden

Well, breaking the rules worked for you. The pics turned out good.
If you have a big mirror you can try putting that at the camera and the dog may stare at that other dog in it's territory. Snap the picture quick though......before the dogfight starts.

Thanks guys - and Tired they are especially not much fun when the original idea was "Oh just get your camera and tripod". The whole "you need how many flashes - what are those big things for - gah why is this taking so long" isn't much help ;)

 No. No, it isn't. People seem to have trouble understanding that there's a little more to it than whipping out your cell-phone and yelling, "Cheese"!

Yep - but still pretty pleased with the result of two softboxes (somewhat too close on the right side with one) and the 400D kit lens on the 7D (it took AGES to find the timer on the 7D!)

That is my main bugaboo. Getting rushed is not only no fun, it is a sure way to get less than acceptable results.

You need a hair cut.

I love the one with the dog, even though that's the "wrong" one!

Runnah no no I don't!

Forky - yeah I like that one too if I could position her right under the lens I think it would work perfectly every time. Forget little birdies - look at the husky works 1000% better!

I was expecting an older gentleman in a bowler hat.

The dog was doing all the work in the first one. She seemed to have everyone under control.
