Posing kids - I think I've got it.

One of the things that I read about but have struggled with was posing positions. I finally got the triangle thing down and I even managed to keep them from saying "cheese".

Okay, so we just decided to have a little fun during our shoot. Enjoy. (Note: This are my kids and my Niece [in the glasses])

That was cute.........just a suggestion, you could have asked your niece to remove her glasses for this shoot. The first one really cracks me up.

Cute shots. I actually like the rare and exotic corrugated tin backdrop!!! That stuff is hard to find these days. ;-) No, but seriously, I do like it as a background, and I think you made the right decision to leave a little bit of the green foliage at the top right corner...I think that by leaving a bit of the greenery at the top, that makes it seem like it's actually a "location backdrop", as opposed to just a blank wall of old-school tin roofing on an outbuilding or whatnot.

The fun hats and the gray character/novelty Tee-shirts are really good attire for this kinda set-up.

Simple. Fun. Exposed right.

But if she is predisposed to wearing glasses, why would that be a better solution? Removing them would seem unnatural to those that know her.

I would suggest to be cognizant of where the frame of the glasses are cutting a line with her eyeball. #1 is approaching the line, whereas #2 has definitely crossed it.

I shot a whole afternoon's worth of photos this weekend, of a young woman who was adamant that she be portrayed wearing her eyeglasses in all the photos. I agree; if a person wears eyeglasses, asking them to remove them is not really a good idea, because as kundalini mentioned, those kinda' people do not "look like themselves" without their specs on.

One thought occurred to me about wardrobe here...it might have literally "read better" if the niece would have been on the left side, so the Tee-shirt's slogan were more readable...I guess it says "born to win", whereas the other shirt is a character Tee, with more emphasis on the smurf character on the front. NOT really a big deal, just thinking out loud. I dunno...still fun shots. Lively colors help, and the fun hats are great, simple props that add a lot of "girlishness".

I think these are great. They are bright, sharp and colorful. I agree about the glasses. They should be left on. I have a friend who took hers off for her wedding pictures, and it just doesn't look right.

I think if you were doing a formal shoot then you should take some picture of her without her glasses but for this kind of fun, informal shoot, I think the glasses are perfect. They just seem to fit here. Great job on the pics!
