Just a quick heads up for those of you in Canada, Alaska, or Northern US states. There's been a lot of geomagnetic activity today, and early this morning. I was surprised to see a very beautiful, bright Aurora (Northern Lights, for those who don't know what I'm talking about) while at work this morning. Unfortunately, being at work, I wasn't able to get any photos. These things are pretty unpredictable, so it's very possible the activity will decrease to the point of non-existence by the time it gets dark. But, I wanted to just give a heads up for those who've always wanted to shoot an aurora and never had the opportunity.

Here's a website that will give a 2 hour lead time prediction that is pretty darn accurate:

The Geophysical Institute Auroral Forecast Short-Term PredictionPage

The green bar on the map is where the Aurora will be overhead. The green line shows where it might be visible low on the horizon. I'm going to try to get some shots tonight, or early tomorrow, and will post them if I do. If not, well, good luck to the rest of you.
