Possible Dumb Question

How can I make sure the photo I take will be a good 8x10? I haven't had any problems before, but I went to throw a Photo into an Easter Card, (8x10) and it came out VERY Pixelated. But I shot the whole Session on the same setting, And this ONE picture didn't make a good 8x10.

User error or too much crop

Usually I say no questions are dumb......borderline...but not dumb. You may be lacking a FEW details. Like.... Camera, software used, an example perhaps??
