Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
At a recent photoshoot by Truckin' Magazine in Los Angeles my buddy's truck was captured for a featured article. I was given permission by the Magazine's editor and the owner to edit and use for non-commercial purpose. If this isn't acceptable I will remove it. I really like how my edit turned out.

The truck will be the feature of the 2nd July issue.

Looks amazing! I love the almost painting effect from the back. It's like a watercolor painting in the back and an HDR in the front. VERY well done imho.

I'm going with horrendously overprocessed, and you cropped off leading space which was leaving the truck somewhere to drive.

Guess it all depends if you want it to look like a photo at the end or not.

I actually like it....=) I found the first shot boring....lol This one pops. The PP makes the trees and smoke look like a painting. Very cool!!
It's ART!!!

If the permisson is in writing, you're backside is covered, if it was just verbal, you're vulnerable.

TPF is a commercial enterprise. All the advertising generates income for TPF's owners.

To me, the edit is no longer a photograph.

My intent was to give it a "high-powered" poster effect. Something like a conceptual rendering. The original was boring to me too although well taken it just didn't scream 700 rear wheel horsepower tubo charged fury!

I see some like it others do not. Too each his own I say!

We know who the artsy members are.....lol

I'm not artsy - but I still like it! :)

I've always regarded overprocessing as processing a shot with an effect to the point where its about maximising the effects effect at the cost of the appearance of the final image. Whilst I'd not call this pure photography and something of a mix between photography and digital art in its final rendering, I'd all it very well executed :)

Thanks!

I really wish I could have made it down to LA to take the shot myself (and all the credit) but alas I can only claim that I had a great canvas to start with albeit a jpg.

I like the edit! I don't know that it's something I would do personally, but I like the way it looks. What I don't like is the composition of the shot. As previously stated, it looks unnatural because there is no space in front of the truck. As a general rule for moving subjects you want to leave open space in front of them because it "gives the somewhere to go" and helps to portray motion. The crop/composition is just awkward imo.

Oddly whilst I still hold to the "rule" of having empty/moving space in the direction of suggested motion in a photo - this one I think might break that rule. Or rather, depending how its viewed, the perceived direction of the photo shifts. By that I mean whilst we all know the car is moving toward the right side of the shot the cloud (which the edit makes far more a part of the attention of the viewer) is heading the other way - its direction is back, back into the left where we do have room to move.

It might also just be the curiosity of the background elements being more arty than photography that is catching my eye more than some (and it might only be because I know it started as a photo that this area is interesting at all).

Don't like it, and the original is not very good
