So, is the image posting thing going to get fixed or are we stuck with it?

I'm still not sure why we have to uncheck a box that is checked by default just to post an image.

I just use IMG code. That's easy enough.

I know that works, but why do we have to have a work around?

Plus, any new member isn't likely to know that the forum software isn't working right and that they have to either enter the code in manually or uncheck the box.

Oh I know, my response was kind of pointless!

Hello. Hello? (tap, tap) Is this thing on?

When you click on the image icon, and then goto from web, "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" is checked by default. It doesn't work, so you have to uncheck it...for every single image that you upload. Honestly, the img code is easier.

Haha, ok, guess I'll stick with that way. =) Thanks, though! I thought it was just me having issues and I've noticed some people kinda coming down on newbies (not me, but other newbies) for not reading directions on how to post first...but if posting isn't working right, that'd be irrelevant.

So, why is there a feedback and suggestions sub-forum if the mods and admins don't look at it?

Do you think we could rename this sub-forum to something more appropriate? Like the 'Black Hole'...

Now, come on..."Black Hole" is a little bit of an overstatement... "Dead Letter Box" is more like it...or "that old abandoned locker at the bus station".

It used to be more user friendly. I don't care for the latest form of masturbation to get an image posted in a thread.

And on the same but different thought..... why does the effort to center your image have the link to enlarge, left justified?

Also, what's up with the size limit? If the image is on flickr or something, and not using forum bandwidth, why are we constrained to 800px? I remember like 1995, where 800 was in style... like 90% of the world is at or above 1280 now...

Not even 800...

The largest I can post without the forum resizing it is 500 on the long side. That's pretty damn small. Even smaller considering that this is a photography forum.

OK, I did a little test, and it looks like 600 on the long side is the largest you can post...

800 is normally a pretty good limit - large enough to show without being too dominating on most screens (laptops and the like - not everyone is supersized ;)) remembering that the screen also has to show the user menu bars and the like as well, so its not just the photo that has to appear.

600 though is very restricting indeed and a pain because it resizes so many shots and most don't look their best (the code appears not to sharpen/correct at all so many can appear worse than they actually are)

It may be a photography forum, but it's still on the internet..... and not everyone has access to 100 terra-google-bit/sec speeds.
