What's new

Posting images in threads

It may be a photography forum, but it's still on the internet..... and not everyone has access to 100 terra-google-bit/sec speeds.
Yes, so we should all just post links. Why even bother with posting the picture directly... We could be the first text only photography forum (well, probably wouldn't be the first, lol).

There are at least 4 or 5 threads a day with people having trouble posting pictures. Any chance this can be resolved, either by posting a sticky on how to work around the forum software or actually fixing the issue?

Here's the Sticky.

I have never seen that thread. Looking at it, it does seem to be a sticky from 2007 in the introduction forum. The name of the thread isn't something that I would think is, "How to post pictures". Also, I know the forum software has changed a lot since then, and six months ago, it was relatively straight forward.

Thanks for linking the sticky. I think we can link new members to that thread and they should be able to figure out how to post an image. It's still ridiculous that the forum admin can't fix these issues or even respond to this thread telling us why.

What exactly IS the issue?

What is broken?

On the 'Insert Image' button, you just have to select the 'From URL' tab instead of the 'From Computer' tab (which is the default, for some reason).

Or you can just use the IMG tags.

If you use Flickr or Photobucket, it's even easier. Two clicks on Flickr to get the link, and one on Photobucket.

And yeah - that sticky is OLD. I think we need a new one...

Well, as you noted, the default is one that doesn't work for most forum members. Also, once you go to the From URL tab, you have to uncheck the box saying to retrieve the file or it just gives you an undefined error. Basically, both of the default options don't work.
