I like the compositions, though the mantis seems way overexposed in #1. I like the DoF a lot in #2, but would it look better if the surface the mantis is on were horizontal? Overall I like #2 quite a bit.

#1 The back is OOF, looks odd. Also overexposed
#2 Rotate it 90 degrees CW, would be much better imo.

Agreed with tevo, also the pictures are out of focus. Keep trying again you will get better.

They arent completely OOF, his aperture is just too wide - he couldnt get the whole bug in focus
