Pre and Post Production Pictures

If possible, I'd like to see some before and after pictures from editing. I feel like there is something, well quite a few things, that I'm missing out on to make my pictures all that much better. I've been getting quite frustrated lately that I have not been able to get the pictures that I want, so much so that I haven't even picked my camera up in 2 weeks.
Also, if anybody knows of any good books for beginners, preferrably something with exercises in it that makes me go out an perform specific tasks, and look for specific results. Or, if anybody knows of some online classes that may be worth taking.

I'm not the one who could give you good examples of Pre and Post production pictures but I can tell you for sure that Bryan Petterson's: Understanding Photography field guide is great. I've only just cracked the shell but he explains things in a simplistic manor and gives you exercises for all the techniques.

Hope you can find something that will work for you.

I have no edited pics to show. When I open the photo editing software, I just see a bunch of buttons that do not make sense to me.
What I'm wanting to see is the potential that a photo has to become by seeing other peoples pre and post edited pics.
I guess what I'm trying to do is narrow down the potential problems that I'm having.

What exactly are you having problems with in lightroom? Do you understand how to import photos to edit? I am also a newbie BUT I've learned a bit in lightroom and am willing to help you learn some things. There are a lot of FREE presets you can download for lightroom. Until you learn more about it those will help you see what your photos will become

As Buckster mentioned above... go through some step by step tutorials. All of these programs require lots of practice and just have fun with trial and error. There are a ton of tutorials online that give you a step by step process. This isn't something that you will just pick up and be an expert at right away, it takes time and practice. Just have fun with it

I have that book and it is AWESOME!! Its not hard to read and there are a lot of exercises for you to do

I can import no problems, I think the problem is, I just do not know where to begin. I believe I just do not have a photographers eye. When I am looking at a photo I took, I can see that it's unappealing to a degree, I just don't know what needs to be done to change that, or even if it's possible at all. Does that make sense?

With Lightroom open on your computer click on the Develope module there in the upper right.

When the Develope module opens press the F1 key on your keyboard (or click on Help > Lightroom Help). That will take you directly to Adobe Community Help.
There on the first page of ACH click on "Geting Started and Tutorials" and start reading.
