Pre-eclipse PSA by Peeb OK, on Flickr
I wondered what the path of the moon might look like over the course of tonite's eclipse, so last night (Jan. 19) I started a 5 hour (duration of the eclipse) time lapse at approximately 3 hours after moon rise (just like the eclipse). Didn't spend any thought or time on focus or exposure or focus- just trying to get a handle on what lens to use, and how to frame the shot. I started the series in the lower left corner of the viewfinder, and left everything on the tripod for 5 hourse.
16mm on a full frame Nikon camera. Images were taken on 10 minute interval. Think I'll bump up to 24mm tonite. I was gonna consider flipping orientation to portrait and capturing an interesting foreground, but I never found a foreground high enough to fit it the high, high sky position of this particular event.
Happy hunting, and hoping for all of us that the clouds don't ruin it all!
