What's new

Pres Obama is asking Congress to normalize realtions and allow casual travel

If you were Canadian, you'd have been there a long time ago. And back again.

Good luck.

I never figured out how the u.s. government could restrict ones travel to start with. You should be able to leave the country whenever you want, and go anywhere in the world you want. Who died and made whatever azzhole think he is god to come up with the theory of restricting ones travel as a legitimate idea?

The difference being, if you were Canadian (or European, or from any country in world except the USA), you'd be on the beach. If you were American, you might be visiting the "facilities". We had one photographer from our photo club spend about a month wandering around in Havana and some of the countryside doing "street". He did have to engage a "guide" but other than the federal and military facilities, he apparently had free access to anywhere he wanted to go.

50 years is a long time to hold a grudge!

Travel restrictions have been relaxed for some years already.

I can bet that 90% of passengers on that first plane will be photogs. Poor Cubans will be inundated by men with cameras. :)

To Cuba.

I am on the first plane.
So many incredible things to shoot in Cuba. An old car collector would feel like they've died and gone to heaven. I see lots of photo tours to Cuba starting up.

I last saw Cuba from this Destroyer in July of 1959. Sat 20 miles off Havana with all 5" 38 guns load at battle stations. This was for about a week. This was my ship. It is now a reef off of Puerto Rico .

I've been to Cuba. It's a nice, warm and friendly place. I didn't see much outside the trip into the Cuban military base where I was detained but it was nice, what I saw. The people were very friendly and although I was an unexpected guest they were quite cordial.

dont wanna get into politics here, but being an ex-cuban refugee and having to see the struggles not only my family but some many more thousands had to endure to ESCAPE !!!! this oppressive , tyrannical , murderous regime ( not to mention the human rights viloations ) , It baffles me that we want to negotiate with them .

Note to the world , the US embargo is not hurting the cuban populace , as Cuba trades with the rest of the world , Its the Castro brothers and their regime that are and have strangled this country for the last 50 years .

They are toasting in Havana today at the fools the made of us today . Rant over .
